Few things about Romania

Location: SE Central Europe
Area: 238,391 sq km (91,843 sq miles).
Official language: Romanian. The main international languages used in conversation are English, French and German.
Government: Republic. Member of NATO since 2004 and EU since January 1st 2007.
Inhabitants: 22,329,977 (July 2005 est.)
Currency: the national currency is RON; 1 RON (singular leu, plural - lei) = 100 bani (singular - ban). See exchange rate list

Religion: Orthodox 86.8%, Roman-Catolic 5.0%, Reformed 3.5%, Greek-Catholic 1.0%, etc.
Transportation:
Road: European highways E 60, E 70, E 79, E 85, E 87, E 576, E671, E 771. Traffic rules: on the right side of the road, overtaking on the left, the signs are those acknowledged by the international legislation.
Air: 2 international airports: Aurel Vlaicu and Henri Coanda (www.otp-airport.ro)
Railway: covers all important cities in Romania using fast trains (www.cfr.ro).
Car rental: Renters must be over 21 and have a valid driver's license and an internationally valid credit card. The Romanian Automobile Association (ACR or "Automobil Clubul Roman") offers 24 hour roadside assistance. Call: (01) 222 22 22 or (01) 222 15 52.
Taxi: are available in every city.

Electric power: operates at 220 V and 50 Hz.
Work schedule: normal five day, forty hour workweek. Office hours are between 7/8 hours am and 3/4 hours pm, generally without a break for lunch. Ministries and other central institutions function between 8 am - 5 pm. Post offices are open daily between 7.30 am and 7.00 pm, and on Saturdays until 1.00 pm.
Non-working days: 1 and 2 January (the New Year), Easter Monday, May Day, 1 December (the National Day), 25 and 26 December (Christmas). The favorite holiday months are July and August.
Capital: Bucharest, the political administrative, economic and cultural centre
Time: Standard Time = GMT+2 ; Summer Time = GMT+3
